The Peerless Prognosticator is reporting (via TSN) that the Ducks are going to place Ilya Bryzgalov on waivers. Please Caps, pick him up. Kolzig is 38; he's going to need rest. Johnson is an okay backup, but Bryzgalov could be a starter for a lot of teams. Frankly, really, he's just better than Johnson.

I think it's tricky to bring in Bryz, if only because you would be putting him in the same situation he's in right now - he's a starter in a backup role, and until Kolzig retires that's what he'd be here. The odds of him sticking around for two years waiting for Olie to hang 'em up are slim, and he's a UFA within that time period.
Plus, and I never thought I would say this, Johnson has played very well this year and I think the team is starting to play better in front of him...that's all relative, of course, since they've won only 6 games (and only once with Johnny in net).
